Dennis and I got out on the Douglas trail about mid-afternoon.
The temp was just under 50 degrees, but we had plenty of warm clothes.
We started haeding north with the idea we'd turn back whenever we felt like it, but before you knew it, we were in sight of Pine Island. So, we made it to the Kwik Trip in Pine Island for a short break and then it was back to the trail for the return trip.
Before we hit Douglas, we passed Big Jim as he headed north on the CX trail. I yelled, but he may not have heard me.
The last 5 miles were starting to get to us, but as we hit Douglas we found our second wind and finished strong. I did a bit of the CX trail, while Dennis kept a nice pace going on the paved trail.
26 miles was pretty impressive for Dennis' first excursion.
We'll work on those base miles through the winter and be ready for next spring.
